This adorable backpack is a bohemian variation of our traditional Borneo bag, which has been used for hunting on the Indonesian island of Borneo for centuries. Handwoven by the skilled local artisans, each piece features a unique design known as ‘ikat’, which refers not just to the pattern itself but also to the special technique of dyeing the material before the process of weaving commences. The weaving craft has been passed through generations and is usually done by the Borneo women, often during their tribe’s social gatherings, which means that no two bags look alike and each one has its own, distinctive tribal pattern.
The spaciousness and practicality of this traditional backpack makes it a perfect bag for virtually any outing. Take it with you to the beach or for a stroll around town, put your yoga mat inside and use it as a gym bag or simply hang it at home as decor. The possibilities are endless as Bukit matches many outfit - casual or elegant and can be worn as a backpack or a sling bag. It’s handwoven straps and body are sturdy enough to carry heavy items while the bag itself is extremely light and can be easily packed inside a suitcase.

Care & Wear:
The bag will naturally soften over time and its colour might fade or darken as often happens with natural materials. Treat it with love: store in its dust bag and avoid crowding it when it’s in storage to help maintain its shape. If the bag gets squashed or folded, spray lightly with water and reshape it carefully.
All our bags are 100% handmade which means that small variations in the design, size, colour and fastenings may occur. Those differences caused by the handcrafted nature of the goods make each piece unique and are one of the reasons we love them so much!
This piece doesn’t just look good - you can feel good about it too! Made with 100% sustainable materials, this product has been handmade in Bali and by buying it you’re supporting the local Indonesian artisans who deserve fair compensation for their magnificent work.
